NOTE FROM RACE DIRECTORS
September 25, 2016
Dear Runners, Sponsors, Volunteers, and Supporters,
After much careful deliberation, we have decided not to host the Nicholas Wilson Tashka Trail Race in 2017.
This annual race has benefitted local children’s programs such as CHOM, The Brayden House, The Tuscaloosa Children’s Theater and Kid One totaling over $40,000 in support over eight years.
We appreciate all the support from each and every one of you and recognize events like this cannot happen without LOTS of engagement by the community – invaluable businesses and individual sponsors, fantastic volunteers and of course, our runners. You have all been amazing in your support and dedication to our beloved Nicholas Wilson Tashka Race!
Regarding the future of the Tashka race, we plan to review our race format, location and date options for 2018 and will see what options are available. We will keep our facebook page current as decisions are made.
Again, thank you all. You may contact us with additional questions or concerns.

20.1 MILES: Boat Rescue 1 5 h 50 m
25 MILES: Boat Rescue 3 7 h 15 m
TIME LIMITS ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED! This is not a hike. Cut off times will be enforced for your safety and to meet Lake Lurleen State Park guidelines. Runners that miss the cut off times for Boat Rescue Points 1 and 3 will be transported back to the start/finish line by boat.
25K Runners will have it a little easier.... you must arrive at the Finish Area (without assistance) before 4 pm to receive a finishers award.
50K Runners will have the option to stop at the 25K Finish Line if they choose to do so. Once that runner crosses the 25K Finish Line, their decision becomes final.
MEDICAL & AID
Medical assistance will be provided by the Mount Olive Volunteer Fire Department. Communication will be provided by the Tuscaloosa Area Radio Club (TARC).
There will be 5 aid / check-in stations. They are located at the North Trailhead, Boat Rescue Points 1, 2, and 3 and the South Trailhead. Aid stations will have fluids, salty stuff, sweet stuff and our FAMOUS hot potato logs.
Boat rescue points will arrange transportation back to the finish area if necessary.
